Since ancient days, peony has been regarded as the king of flowers and herbaceous peony the prime minister. The herbaceous peony in Yangzhou has been the most famous one in China. The root tuber of the flower is an important ingredient for a Chinese traditional medicine, and has the curative effect in the treatment of blood deficiency, abdominal pain, pain in the costal region and diarrhea, and is capable of cooling the blood and dissipating blood stasis.
